Privacy Policy

AtlasPlate is a recipe site run by one editorial desk. This page says what the site collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have kept it in plain English because a privacy policy nobody can read is not a privacy policy.

What the site collects

Reading AtlasPlate does not require an account and we do not ask you for a name. Three things do produce data.

  • The contact form. It is the form built into the site; it asks for a subject, your message, an email address so we can answer, and your name if you want to give one. It loads no outside anti-spam service. Your message is emailed to us rather than saved in the site’s database; the site keeps only a short log line for each send — the date, the subject, a shortened IP address and whether it went through — not the message, the address or the name. To stop bursts of automated sends it holds brief technical counters tied to a fingerprint of your IP, never the address itself, cleared within a couple of days. We keep the emailed message as long as the conversation is useful and delete it after that.
  • Server and security logs. Like any website, the host records requests: the IP address, the time, the page, the browser string. Wordfence and Limit Login Attempts Reloaded read those records to block brute-force attempts on the admin login. That is the only thing they are for, and the logs roll over on their own.

We pass your IP address to an outside service (country.is) when you do something that sends data in — send the contact form or run a search — so we can tell which country the request comes from. It returns only the country; we keep that country code for a day, under a fingerprint of the address rather than the address itself. From outside the countries the site serves, those actions are declined: the form says so, and a search just returns you to the homepage. This check never happens when you simply read a page or an article.

What the site does not do

As of 12 October 2026, AtlasPlate serves no advertising, runs no analytics tag, and has no advertising or measurement partner. It sets no cookies. Nothing is profiling you here, because there is nothing here doing the profiling. If that changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves. The cookie policy sets out what would be involved if any cookie were ever used.

We do not sell data. There is no data to sell, and we would not want the business.

Who else touches it

The site is hosted on Hostinger, which holds the server logs and the database. Hostinger serves the site directly and records those requests; no separate service sits in front of the site. The addresses collected until now were deleted from the site on 12 October 2026, and no mail provider ever held them. The host has its own privacy policy, and it is used because the site needs it to work, not to learn about you.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request through the contact form and we will answer it ourselves. If you are in the EU or the UK, those rights come from the GDPR; if you are in California, the CCPA gives you comparable ones. We apply the same answer to everyone regardless of where you write from, because running two standards would be more work than running one good one.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent something through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date below changes and the change is real, not a reshuffle of the wording. Nothing here is retroactive.
